Linda Umbdenstock, Ph.D.
Linda Umbdenstock is Executive Director of the Hewlett Recognition program for the Research & Planning Group of the California Community Colleges. She was previously administrative dean of planning at Long Beach City College. She received her B.A. from Alverno College and her Ph.D. in Systems Sciences from Portland State University.
Her career spans 30 years in higher education, including serving as president of the Research & Planning Group of the California Community Colleges, and on statewide task forces and projects for planning and evaluation. Her wide experience in the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs with targeted outcomes includes development of a data tracking system for the California Community College Economic Development Network, data analysis for the Robert Wood Johnson funded Perinatal Regionalization Project (involving numerous hospitals and private practices), the interagency Adolescent Resources Coalition, numerous grant evaluations, program review and college effectiveness evaluation systems for community colleges, and development of the infrastructure for decision-support systems. She has served on evaluation teams and as an agency evaluator for regional accreditation. She was a founding member of the California Assessment Institute.
